The story is that it's the near future (also alternate history, but in a modern setting like our own) where out of nowhere military technology advances by decades in only a short amount of time. Now nations are capable of making 50ft bipedal tanks, submarines big enough to be aircraft carriers, androids, and more. Nobody knows why this happened, but there are people scattered around the globe who were born with the information implanted in their brains, these people are called "the whispered".

One of these whispered is Konamei Chidiri, a 17 year old high school girl in Japan. However, she is unaware of her abilities and lives life as a normal teenager. But, after gathering intelligence that an opposing faction is planning to abduct Konamei, a global peacekeeping organization sends Sousuke Sagara, their top operative, to pose as a high school student to keep an eye on Chidiri and protect her from harm.

The main story of the series revolves around Sousuke trying to protect Chidiri from danger, while also keeping his identity a secret, while also trying to stay on good terms with Konamei. Though the main characters are high school age, the high school setting is often ditched, which keeps the story interesting as we see them go to different places around the world as the series progresses. But if high school romcoms are your thing, I think you'll enjoy FMP, especially if you watch Fumouffu after finishing season 1.
